Trichology
Trichology is the study of diseases and disorders of the hair and scalp... basically a Trichologist is a hair doctor.
Iain Sallis is a Consultant trichologist for the Leeds and York Nuffield Hospitals, he also has a clinic at the Chestnuts Surgery in Cottingham, near Hull.
Iain is forging new ground in the hairdressing/trichology field using his knowledge to the advantage for both medical and cosmetic problems.
Why see a Trichologist?
The hair and scalp are specialised areas of medicine, as they are classed as non-essential areas of the body, your local G.P will usually give hair disorders very little weight and at the worst be completely dismissive of such problems, they may not have not spent much time researching the many problems which affect hair, such as:
A Trichologist understands the importance of your hair, it is a sensitive barometer of your health and a hair disorder may be an indication or a symptom of an underlying medical condition which if left unchecked may cause a serious illness.
Hair problems take over many peoples lives, it may psychologicaly make you feel inadequate or incomplete, due to such a visible problem.
